The Department of Communication is home to 37 nationally and internationally recognized faculty members (23 graduate faculty; 14 specialized faculty) who are engaged in cutting-edge research that deals with socially pressing problems in communication. Our faculty and instructors are also creative and committed teachers who bring passion and enthusiasm to the classroom.

Nearly 900 students are pursuing B.A., M.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in communication. Our department provides students with in-depth understanding of how people communicate across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. Our graduates enter the workforce with the written and oral communication and analytical skills that employers seek. For the past 20 years, the department has been ranked in the top 10 programs nationally in the field of communication.
